Stand With Us

The Wolf and the Bee was started to eliminate discrimination and harassment in the workplace by working with employees, employers by empowering individuals, educating employers, and addressing unfair legal systems.

Cheri Wolf

Cheri Wolf, co-founder of The Wolf and The Bee, is a dynamic, results-driven professional. Over the course of her career, she has worked for large and small companies, facilitating sales teams and surpassing advertising and signage sales goals of over $20 million per year.

For more than a decade, Ms. Wolf owned and operated Ads Up Outdoor, a billboard signage company in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to starting her own business, she thrived in small and medium-sized companies which gave her direct, hands-on experience with all aspects of running a business.

Over her career in the highly competitive advertising industry, Cheri learned and refined (in fact, invented her own) tactics to manage toxic workplaces, since training in this area was not readily available. The skills born out of these experiences have helped her thrive and prosper, and she brings these skills to The Wolf and The Bee.

Cheri’s goal for The Wolf and The Bee is to help grow productive workplaces free of discrimination, harassment, and both micro and macro aggressions; places where workers are treated fairly, equally, and without bias that foster an environment of growth.

Cheri built her career and currently resides in Chicago with her husband Nate, where they enjoy time with family, sports, and activities in the city, volunteering in the community, and yes, sampling pizza!

Sandy Lisonbee

Sandy Lisonbee, co-founder of The Wolf and The Bee, became a “jack of all trades” while working for large companies and start-ups. She honed her business skills as Director of B2B Marketing and Director of Operations in emerging media technology. During her years in corporate America Sandy learned critical management techniques that helped promote success for not only those companies, but also for co-workers and superiors, clients and vendors. She gained other valuable insights with guidance from two mentors – Barry Stagg, who at the time was SVP in Marketing at Ascent Media, and Phil Tweedy, who at the time was CTO of Neo Advertising.

At the University of Utah, Sandy majored in Anthropology and minored in Women’s Studies. These experiences provided a foundation for understanding human behavior and what motivates people. She gained an understanding of the systemic injustices and politics built around gender, race, and class in America. Sandy built on her academic knowledge with management skills she gained in business – supporting herself and her co-workers with skills such as how to speak up in safe ways, how to communicate boundaries, and how to resolve disputes through conflict resolution.

For the past few years, Ms. Lisonbee’s business skillset has expanded further with continuing research and on-the-job training in corporate policies, communication strategies, legal options, agency policies, and other topics, all while developing The Wolf and The Bee’s Navigating Workplace Harassment User Guide.

“Harassment and discrimination cost companies and employees a lot of time, money, and emotional distress. It’s time to deconstruct ineffective workplace systems and create resources and tools focused on eliminating harassment at work, not just on meeting minimal corporate compliance. We want to help both companies and employees thrive in safe, productive, equitable, and prosperous work environments.”

Sandy lives with her husband, Sean, and their dog, Gracie, in Salt Lake City, and enjoys spending time in the great outdoors with family and friends.

Our History

At the height of the #METOO Movement, one of our founders was sexually harassed. Looking for the best way to resolve the issue, we looked for resources and recommendations before deciding how best to proceed. Information was spotty, filled with jargon, and legalese. We couldn’t find any information on options, potential risks, or tactics.

Three years later, after considering and trying different strategies to find a resolution, within the company, with attorneys, and through government agencies, we knew we needed to take our experience and help others avoid the many pitfalls and roadblocks we encountered.

We decided to start The Wolf and The Bee.

Our Name

The name of this organization was inspired by the founders’ last names. While wolves have their packs and bees have their hives, both species depend on group cooperation for their success.

Both employers and employees are engaged in a symbiotic relationship, working towards prosperity for all. Sometimes this relationship feels more like a power imbalance, and this becomes even more apparent when it comes to employees that fall within protected classes.

Company and government processes make it difficult for employees to call out, change or hold people accountable for harassment. Victims of these unlawful behaviors must undertake these processes on their own, incurring greater risk to themselves.

Our mission is to change that dynamic by supporting employees so they can limit their time and the risk they invest. And create systems of support for employers to proactively work to eliminate discrimination get ahead of the issue.

At times we will behave like a beehive, to build and grow community, and cooperation to creating a new balance.

At times we will move like a wolf pack – pursue, create and support systemic change.
